The circumgalactic medium, galaxy evolution, and plasma physics

Yossi Oren

I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Astrophysics at Tel Aviv University with Prof. Amiel Sternberg. I have a B.Sc. in Physics and Electrical Engineering (dual degree) and an M.Sc. in Astrophysics, both from Tel Aviv University.

I study galaxy evolution. My research focuses on a massive but diffuse gas reservoir that surrounds galaxies out to large distances, known as the circumgalactic medium (or CGM for short).

In my work I combine post-processing of cosmological hydrodynamic simulations with analytical modeling of observable quantities to better understand the properties of the CGM and how it interacts with the galaxy within it.
